Notice of Race

2013 Avila Cup Series

San Luis Yacht Club

  1. HOST AND ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

The series is hosted and organized by the San Luis Yacht Club.

 

  1. RULES

This series will be governed by the 2013-2016 Racing Rules of Sailing (except as amended by the Sailing Instructions), the prescriptions of U.S. Sailing, the Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions.

 

  1. CLASSES

Classes invited to compete include all classes listed in the Performance Handicap Racing fleet (PHRF) of Southern California.  Classes will be Arbitrary.

 

  1. ENTRY

Entries and an entry fee of $10 will be taken before the skipper?s meeting each race day beginning at 09:00.

 

  1. RACING and VENUE

Racing will take place on San Luis Obispo Bay on courses identified on the related course charts.  Registration and post race activities will take place in the SLYC clubhouse.

 

  1. SCHEDULE

Except as noted below, races are held on the first Sunday of each month, from May through October, in conjunction with the SLYC brunch.  Up to four (4) races will be run each day.  The schedule and times are summarized below.

  1. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Sailing Instructions and Course Charts will be available during registration.  Copies are also posted on the website (www.slyc.org/Racing/info/Notices of  Race.html ).

 

  1. SCORING

The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A of the Racing Rules will apply, except as amended by the Sailing Instructions (includes using the 12 best scores of the series).  Appendix A9 will be used when scoring both regattas and series when multiple races are completed.

 

  1. PRIZES

Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 finishers each day.  The Port San Luis Small Boat Cup will be awarded to the winner of the series during SLYC's Opening Day, typically during April of the following year.
